Professor Li Fangmin:
A Biography
Li Fangmin, thesis supervisor for post-graduates, was born in May 1963, at
Dali
,
Shaanxi
province. Since graduation from the department of Chinese Language and Culture,
Northwest
University
, he has been working in the university, emgaged mostly in the study of the culture of Tang Dynasty. In 2007, he became professor in the field and is now the executive member of the Association of the Culture of Tang Dynasty, as well as Vice-Editor of the study of the Culture of Tang Dynasty.
Professor Li’s academic interests include teaching and study of the ancient Chinese literature and philology, the culture of Tang Dynasty in particualr. He has offered such courses as the history of ancient Chinese literature and history of Chinese Culture, for both postgraduates and undergraduates, and was honored as an “outstanding teacher”. Other honors include second-prize winner in the “Teaching Competition for Young Teachers” in
Northwest
University
, first-prize winner in the “Outstanding Teaching Plan Exhibition” in
Northwest
University
.
In the field of academic research, Professor Li has taken charge of such projects as the “Temples Culture and Poems of the Tang Dynasty” (99NW12), sponsored by the Academic Foundation for Young Teachers, Northwest University, the “Compilation and Textual Criticism of the Temples in Guanzhong during the Sui and Tang dynasties” (04JK021), sponsored by the Academic Foundation of Shaanxi province, and the “Arrangement and Study of the Buddhist and Secular Communication Texts during the Tang and Wudai dynasties”(09XJA751005), sponsored by the Social Science Progrm of the Ministry of Education. Besides, more than 30 literary critic works have been published in well-reputed academic journals as the Cultural Heritage, Journal of Literature, History and Philosophy, and Journal of Northwest University, which became winners of the third prize in “Achievement Reward of Social Science in Shaanxi Prouince” in 2004, and the second prize winner of the “Achievement Reward of Humanities and Sicial Science” in Shaanxi Province.
Major works of Professor Li include “The Compiling and Textual Criticism of the Buddhist Temples in the Tang and Wudai dynasties”, “An Introduction of the Chinese and foreign Literary Classics”, “Proofreading and Comments of the Prose Work of the Eight Masters durinbg the Tang and Song Dynasties”, “An Annoted Selected Reader of the Chinese Literature” and the“Selected Prose Work of the Tang Dynasty”. The “Compiling and Textual Criticism of the Buddhist Temples during the Tang and Wudai dynasties” is winner of the second-prize of the “Achievement Reward of Philosophy and Social Science” in Shaanxi Province in 2009 and the 6th Achievement Reward of Social and Science in Xi’an Municipality, as well as the first-prize in the “Achievement Reward of Social Science” for colleges and universities in Shaanxi Province.
