1. Introducing the Graduate Program

   The department has two Key National disciplines for Master’s degree programs and one Key National discipline for the Ph.D. program with two secondary discipline master’s degree programs in aesthetics and religion studies. Professional Master’s degrees for Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages and Broadcast are conferred. Classical Chinese Literature and Theory of Literature and Art are the first group of key National Master’s Degrees. Postdoctoral Research Center for Chinese Language and Literature is awarded. A more balanced educational structure results from the significant growth in the number of doctoral and master’s degree programs.

2. Faculty and Graduates

   We have 15 professors and 19 associate professors, 16 professors being PHD supervisors and 37 MA supervisors. After the approval of degree-awarding power in 1981, 1140 MA graduates enrolled and 766 received MA degrees; 80 PHD candidates studied and 30 were conferred the PHD degree.

3. Academic Cooperation and Exchanges

   Academic exchanges take varied forms, covering a broad range of academic events such as “Monthly Academic Activity” and different symposiums. Many distinguished scholars, Fu Xuanzong、Zhou Xunchu、Zhang Peiheng、Wang Shuizhao、Chen Guying、Yangyi、Tong Qingbing、Sun Changwu、Xiangchu、Zeng Fanren、Huang Dekuan、Mo Lifeng、Chen Dakang、Tao Wenpeng、Liu Zaifu、Dong Zhiqiao、Zhu Liyuan、Chen Yan、Wang Furen、Chen Sihe、Sun Yu、Chen Shangjun、Dang Shengyuan、Hu ming、Liu Yuejin、Wang Zhaopeng、Sun Xun、Zhang Fugui、Li Chunqing、Zhao Chengping、Wang Yao、Wang Ning、Zhang Xinke、You Xilin、XingXiangdong、Fu Peirong、Gong Pengcheng、Zhang Zhongliang, and etc., gave talks here. Even well-known writers like Chen Zhongshi、Jia Pingwa、Xiong Zhaozheng、Gao Jianqun、Feng Xiaoning、Luwei、Chen Yan、Li Guoping and Mutao delivered speeches for postgraduates. We have established partnerships with many oversee universities and institutes. Liberal Arts hosted “Cross-strait Graduate Forum in four universities” with Shih Hsin University . Research collaboration and academic exchange were particularly built with Senshu University in Japan and Gyeongsang National University in Korea .

4. Research Achievements

  Within five years, the professors have achieved 10 National programs and 30 provincial programs with other 80 ones at different levels. 10 Graduate Innovation Programs were awarded and 240 articles were published in high-rank journals. We have also compiled and published 60 textbooks and monographs.
